Dallas Cowboys Drop Bombshell: Their Two Massive Offseason Priorities Finally Revealed

The Dallas Cowboys have been criticized for how they handle negotiations with their players, especially their stars. The NFC East team was at odds with quarterback Dak Prescott, and the CeeDee Lamb situation wasn’t as smooth as fans would have liked.
The most recent saga got out of control and ended with Micah Parsons requesting a trade, which ultimately sent him to the Green Bay Packers, where he signed a four-year, $188 million deal. They entered an offseason that could either put them in line for Super Bowl contention or keep them as a good but not excellent team.
After stealing a highly touted Philadelphia Eagles coach to make him their new defensive coordinator, they prepare for a free agency period and draft that could make them a contender. They could land a 42-touchdown star running back in the draft to replace Javonte Williams, but that might not be necessary after all.
Stephen Jones Wants To Keep George Pickens, Javonte Williams on the Cowboys roster

The Cowboys’ defense has been a glaring issue in the past two seasons. They already moved on from Matt Eberflus, but it’s time to add pieces that can improve the unit. More than that, they may lose two top offensive contributors in free agency: wide receiver George Pickens and Williams.
During an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones discussed the team’s offseason plans. Right at the top, they have Pickens and Williams.
“Obviously, there’s guys that we want to keep from last year,” Jones said Tuesday. “Whether it’s George Pickens or it’s Javonte [Williams], those are all guys that play into the free agency picture. We’ve got work to do on the defensive side of the ball. Whether that’s through free agency or the draft, there’s a lot of resources there that we can use to make our defense better.”
While their defense struggled in 2025, the Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the NFL (first in total passing yards with 4,735, fourth in touchdowns passing with 31, sixth in yards per carry with 4.6, and 12th in touchdowns rushing with 18). Pickens and Williams played a big role in that.
