NFL Insider Drops Explosive Rumor on Buccaneers’ Mike Evans

After missing the 2025 NFL playoffs in the season finale, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have undergone and will undergo changes to get back on track in 2026. They found a new star in rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who can lead the team for many years alongside Jalen McMillan.
Chris Godwin (29) and Mike Evans (32) aren’t getting any younger, either. Their roles with the team might be different next season. For Evans, there might not be one at all. NFL insider Tony Pauline reported on Thursday that the veteran wide receiver will likely leave the franchise this offseason.
“Those I’ve spoken with over the past week believe it’s less than 50-50 the veteran wideout re-signs with Tampa and that his career with the Buccaneers is likely finished. He’d like to go to a contender and win another title,” Pauline wrote, via JPA on X.

Running back Rachaad White announced he would leave the team after the 2025 season. Evans could follow in his footsteps.
AFC Contender Mentioned As Mike Evans’ Potential Landing Spot

Even before Pauline reported the latest on Mike Evans, the wide receiver was being linked with a move away from Tampa Bay. The Buffalo Bills present a good opportunity for Evans to continue his career and thrive alongside Josh Allen.
After 11 consecutive seasons posting at least 1,000 receiving yards, Evans’ streak came to an end in 2025. He played just eight games due to injuries, posting 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
The Buccaneers lost the NFC South title in 2025 and are working to get back to the top of the division. Next year, however, will likely be without Evans on the roster.
