Greg Olsen has a heavy heart this week after a devastating announcement. Christian Olsen, the older brother of the FOX NFL broadcaster, tragically passed away. He was only 43.
Christian was the oldest son of legendary Wayne Hills football coach Chris Olsen and Sue Olsen. Greg posted on Instagram about his brother’s death.
“It is with great sadness that I share this update. Despite fighting with every ounce of his being, my older brother Chris has lost his battle with Glioblastoma,” Greg wrote. “This terrible disease took many things, but it could never take Chris’s spirit for life.”
Chris died after a battle with cancer. Olsen shared that friends came from all over the country to visit the family, sharing stories of how Chris Olsen touched their lives.

NFL broadcaster Greg Olsen will never see his older brother again after he passed away. Olsen announced his brother’s death on social media, posting a heartfelt tribute thanking everyone for their prayers and support through this difficult time.

“Prayers for the Olsens- love you all so much. Chris was always smiling, pure joy. He certainly will be remembered that way. ❤️,” Kevin Burkhardt commented.
“Prayers to you and the family, Greg. Chris will be dearly missed,” Brady Quinn said.
The former All-State quarterback and national recruit committed to the University of Notre Dame, where he redshirted as a freshman in 2002. Christian transferred to the University of Virginia, where he spent the final four years of his college career.
He finished with 52 completions in 87 attempts for 439 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions.
This is going to be a tough transition for Olsen and his family. With no more games to call for months, he will have to deal with intense grief as he navigates this difficult time.
Aside from his obvious heartbreak, Olsen, who was named the NFL’s favorite announcer, will look to his friends and family to help his mental health going forward.
