It took a long time for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford to win his first NFL MVP award. Now that he has done it, questions arise about how it happened.

Dan Orlovsky and Albert Breer are facing some major backlash after social media exposed some interesting details about them.

Since the end of the 2025 season, and even before then, there has been a lot of debate around who should win the MVP Award. The two most common names were Drake Maye or Matthew Stafford. For the most part, the majority have said the 17-year veteran should be the winner.

The problem is that it appears Stafford won the award solely because of a key relationship he has. Orlovsky, who has had calls to have him banned, may have been the deciding factor in his winning the award. Stafford received 24 of 50 first-place votes and finished with 366 points. Maye got 23 first-place votes and finished with 361 points. It was the closest MVP vote since 2003, per ESPN.

Dan Orlovsky, Albert Breer Are Friends With Matthew Stafford

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky and NFL insider Albert Breer have all of social media going at their necks.

“I voted for Stafford,” said Orlovsky over the MVP vote. “This is my biggest pushback to you, and this is where you lose it. You can’t, on one hand, talk about the numerical advantage or the statistical advantage that Drake Maye has on some of the things that you reference and then not talk about the schedule.”

Voting for him was fine, but his relationship with him seems sketchy. Fans believe he voted for Stafford in large part because they were teammates on the Detroit Lions. Not only that, but both are still represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

NFL insider Albert Breer even has a jersey with Matthew Stafford’s signature framed in his house. The entire thing has fans screaming rigged.

After winning the MVP award, Matthew Stafford made it clear that he wasn’t retiring. That question had been hanging over his head all season. Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns. Winning an MVP puts him even closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
