Former New York Giants coach Ray Handley sadly died on Monday. He worked under the legendary Bill Parcells, playing a key role in the team’s best years. Handley helped the Giants win two Super Bowls as an assistant coach to Parcells before moving to head coach.
Handley worked as the offensive backfield coach during the team’s Super Bowl wins in 1986 and 1990. He then took over from Parcells in 1991. His nephew announced the terrible news on Monday. Handley was 81.
“My Uncle, Ray Handley (October 8, 1944 – February 5, 2026), was an American football player and coach whose career spanned several decades at the collegiate and professional levels, including leadership roles within one of the most influential coaching eras in modern football history,” his nephew announced.
The Giants remembered the coach with a post on X, confirming that he passed away.
