Drake Maye and the New England Patriots were expected to face serious punishment after their Super Bowl loss.

And now, his teammates have been accused of trashing him near the end of the game

The former UNC quarterback did not give a great account of himself, completing 27 of his 43 passing attempts against the Seattle Seahawks. Maye threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns, but those stats were more or less empty calories, considering how things unfolded.

It now appears that a pair of his teammates threw him under the bus during the 29-13 loss

Defensive linemen Christian Barmore and Milton Williams were mic’d up while the game played out. And they were heard lamenting the result on the sideline.

“It wasn’t us, bro. It wasn’t us, man,” Barmore was heard saying as the game headed into the fourth quarter. “It wasn’t us, twin. It wasn’t us, bro. It wasn’t us, twin.”

“Now we just gotta build on it … keep getting better and better,” Williams replied.

Were They Really Throwing Shade At Drake Maye?

Given the optics, some fans thought the players were throwing shade at their QB.

“Calling your QB trash while mic’d up is certainly a choice,” one joked.

“If it’s not the defense’s fault, it’s the offense. Who runs the offense? Drake “The Schedule” Maye,” said another.

““it wasnt us it was our qb who had 70 yards in 3 quarters”,” said a third.

“Bro they put up 130 rushing yards on you… ya it was you too,” a user pointed out.

“It wasn’t us” but they were running all over y’all.. this is a dumb thing to say, it’s a team game, offense might have sucked but you could’ve done your job better,” another echoed.

Let’s give Barmore the benefit of the doubt here. His comments weren’t necessarily directed at Maye or the offense. Even so, they were probably best served in the drafts.
