Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Hickman got jumped by “four goons” in New York this week, according to the New York Post.
The publication reports that the Browns DB was accosted by four individuals outside a Lower East Side hotel near 5:00 AM on Monday Morning.
The Browns signed Hickman after he went undrafted in 2023, and he has emerged as a key player, starting for the team in 2025.
“Hickman, 24 — a New Jersey native who just finished a breakout season as a starter for the Browns — was approached by four goons in the lobby of the SIXTY LES hotel on Allen Street shortly after 4:30 a.m. and a dispute broke out, police and sources said,” the Post reported.
The outlet added that “The suspects slugged Hickman and took off.”
The 24-year-old was hospitalized after the attack. He was said to be in stable condition, and he was believed to have been discharged from the medical facility in the afternoon.
Police are investigating whether Hickman’s assailants targeted him because they recognized him as an NFL player.
Ronnie Hickman Impressed In The Browns’ Secondary Last Season

Hickman played at Ohio State from 2019 to 2022. He redshirted his first season to recover from an injury sustained during his senior year at high school. He declared for the 2023 NFL Draft but went undrafted.
The Browns offer him a pathway into the pros, and he’s making the best of the opportunity.
He appeared in all 17 games for the team last season, recording 103 tackles (51 solo) and two interceptions.
Police have not announced any arrests since the attack.
Monday’s incident follows San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White getting shot in the wee hours of last Monday. Rapper Lil Baby was reportedly involved in the altercation that resulted in the player being wounded in the ankle.
