Missouri Government Official Publicly Tells The Kansas City Chiefs To GTFO Of Arrowhead Stadium As Battle Between Team & State Turns Ugly

A prominent Missouri official wants the Kansas City Chiefs to pack up their bags and move out of the state right away.
In December, news broke that the Kansas City Chiefs secured a new stadium deal with the state of Kansas. The Chiefs, who have played at Arrowhead Stadium since 1972, will move into a $3 billion dome in the neighboring state in 2031.
The Chiefs still have five seasons left in Kansas City, Missouri. But instead of waiting until 2031, a top politician in the “Show-Me State” thinks Patrick Mahomes and company should just make their move now.
Speaking to Matthew Pilger of Missourinet, Missouri House Speaker Pro‑Tem Chad Perkins advised the Kansas City Chiefs to leave now: Perkins even dared them to play their games at a high school field until the new stadium is ready:
“If I’ve given you everything you ask and treated you like a little princess and you leave anyway, then maybe I need to take a different tactic. But if you’re going to leave and go to Kansas, then why are we giving out license plates for a business that’s based in Kansas,” asked Perkins.
“Arrowhead Stadium’s not owned by the Chiefs, it’s owned by the Jackson County Sports Authority. If I were the Jackson County Sports Authority, I’d tell him, get out right now. Just get your stuff and get out now. Go play football at a high school field in Overland Park. I don’t care. Get out. And you can sue me and we can go to court, and I think a Missouri jury might just agree with me right now, right?”
That certainly doesn’t sound like someone who will continue rooting for Kansas City.
Kansas City Chiefs Are Coming Off Their Most Disappointing Season In Franchise History

The Chiefs reached seven straight AFC Championship Games from 2018 to 2024, winning five of them. They won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2022 and 2023, but had their three-peat bid denied by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59.
Kansas City was a trendy pick to win Super Bowl 60 at the start of the 2025 season. But they never once resembled a contender and probably would have missed the playoffs even if Patrick Mahomes didn’t suffer a season-ending knee injury.
The Chiefs finished 6-11, their worst record since 2012. It also kept them out of the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Needless to say, it’ll be interesting to see how they go about this offseason.
