NFC Team Expected to Make Big Offer For 49ers’ Mac Jones

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones made a strong impression in the 2025 NFL season. He became another quarterback who revitalized his career under Kyle Shanahan, following Sam Darnold’s success with the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks.
Jones played 11 games in 2025, going 201 of 289 for 2,151 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions. His level sparked discussions about whether he should remain the starter after Brock Purdy returned from injury.
While Purdy won the battle, Jones drew plenty of attention with his performances. So much so that the Niners don’t plan to move him this offseason, but several teams will try to make a swing for his services.
Minnesota Vikings To Make Big Offer For Mac Jones

Vic Tafur of The Athletic wrote on Monday that teams like the Minnesota Vikings would make “big offers” for veterans like Mac Jones, considering that this year’s draft class isn’t the strongest.
“The bidding starts with a third-round pick … do we hear a second-round pick? Going once, going twice … There is also the matter of who Kyle Shanahan’s next project will be, as young first-round busts and veteran castoffs will all want to be the next Sam Darnold or Jones. There’s Anthony Richardson, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields … yeah, it’s not a great list,” Tafur said.
At the end of January, the Vikings were first mentioned as potential sweepstakes for Jones. However, they also had Anthony Richardson among their options. The 49ers were urged to use him as a way to land Maxx Crosby, but it doesn’t seem that they will take that route.
Jones’ stock rose during the 2025 season, and the Niners could cash in on that soon.
