Former Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill may be one of the biggest names available in free agency, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the market for him will be strong.

Last week, news broke that the Dolphins were releasing Tyreek Hill in a move that saves them a whopping $22.8 million against the salary cap. The future Hall of Famer suffered a gruesome season-ending leg injury in Week 4 against the New York Jets.

Ultimately, his age (32) and hefty salary made the release an easy decision for the Dolphins.

Unfortunately for Hill, it doesn’t sound like the free agent market will treat him like an eight-time Pro Bowl wideout and Super Bowl champion with Hall of Fame accolades.

Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom spoke with multiple NFL executives to gauge Tyreek Hill’s market. One general manager gave a damning and perfectly blunt assessment, to say the least.

“We aren’t touching him,” the unnamed GM told La Canfora. “No chance. We think he’s done. He isn’t a difference-maker anymore. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Not even as a vet-minimum guy for us.”

Another NFL executive told La Canfora the following:

“They weren’t going to get anything for him in trade. I don’t think free agency is going to be very kind, either.”

Hill caught 21 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown in four games before suffering his season-ending injury. But he showed significant signs of decline in his 2024 campaign, finishing with 81 catches for only 959 yards and six scores.

Which Teams Could Target Tyreek Hill?

Hill isn’t going to secure a long-term contract, but multiple contenders should have interest if his asking price is reasonable. Even if he’s never 100 percent again, Hill can still be a difference-maker.

The Baltimore Ravens love reclamation projects and could roll the dice on Hill. The Pittsburgh Steelers sorely need a No. 2 receiver for DK Metcalf. Ditto for the Denver Broncos, who lack a capable sidekick to WR1 Courtland Sutton.

Other contenders like the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Chargers need receiving depth, too. Even the Kansas City Chiefs could explore a reunion with Hill, who was a vital part of their Super Bowl 54 championship team.
