Fernando Mendoza Reveals One NFL Team Asked Him To Get Arrested

Fernando Mendoza is a virtual lock to go first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2026 NFL Draft. But that didn’t stop one NFL team from asking him to try and ruin his own draft stock in the worst way possible.
Mendoza and Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson are the two best QB prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. But all signs point to the Raiders taking Mendoza with the top pick, with Simpson likely to fall somewhere outside the top 10 in round one.
Though he’s obviously heading to Vegas, Mendoza has met with multiple NFL teams for pre-draft interviews. It’s standard for the draft prospects to do this, even if someone is a lock to go No. 1 overall.
During an interview with Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports, Fernando Mendoza was asked to reveal the most bizarre question he was asked from an NFL team.
“It was: ‘Hey, maybe you should get arrested.’ I was a little confused, but then it was like to slide,” Mendoza said. “So, hopefully I don’t get arrested.”

Mendoza wouldn’t reveal the team, so take your guess which club asked him the question.
Fernando Mendoza Will Bring New Hope To The Raiders

Raiders fans are tired of losing, with only two playoff appearances since 2003, and understandably so. But eventually, things have to turn around. And they just might have the pieces in place this time.
Hiring ex-Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as the new head coach was a stroke of genius. He should have no problem maximizing a young offense featuring Mendoza, Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty.
And if you’re Mendoza, there may not be a better mentor than Tom Brady. The Pete Carroll and Geno Smith experiments failed, but there’s no reason to believe things can’t be different under Kubiak and Mendoza.
