The man involved in a brawl with Mark Sanchez in Indianapolis on Oct. 4 is alleging that the former NFL quarterback may have been high on drugs during the vicious attack.

On Oct. 4, Mark Sanchez attacked 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole in a confrontation outside of an Indianapolis restaurant. Sanchez was hospitalized after suffering stab wounds in the fight, which Tole claims was done in self-defense.

Sanchez was fired from his role at Fox Sports as an NFL analyst, and the network brought in Hall of Famer Drew Brees as his replacement. The trial for Sanchez is slated to begin on Apr. 9.

Ahead of the trial, more bombshell allegations have surfaced against Mark Sanchez. According to FOX 59 in Indianapolis, Pole’s attorneys filed a document that alleges Sanchez was under the influence during the assault:

“[This is]  including but not limited to cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl, and alcohol. Plaintiff has cause to believe that one or more of these substances may have been consumed in one of Huse’s establishments, which caused or contributed to Sanchez’s impairment and his subsequent negligent and/or knowing conduct.”

If convicted of the felony charge, Sanchez faces a possible six-year prison sentence.

After a disappointing one-year partnership with Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre, the Jets traded up to select Sanchez with the No. 5 pick in 2009. His career got off to a blistering start, with the Jets reaching consecutive AFC Championship Games in 2009 and 2010.

That included playoff road wins over Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in 2010. But just as the Jets appeared to be re-emerging as a threat, things quickly unraveled for Sanchez and company in 2011.

Sanchez’s New York Jets missed the playoffs in 2011 with a disappointing 8-8 record. In 2012, Sanchez struggled with turnovers (including the Butt Fumble) and fell out of favor in Gotham.

He lost his starting job to rookie Geno Smith in the 2013 season. Sanchez would spend the remainder of his career as a backup, eventually retiring after the 2018 season.
