Long-time NFL analyst and play-by-play announcer Rich Eisen expressed his discomfort with fans’ disrespectful behavior during the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Plenty of prospects, including Fernando Mendoza, attended the event in Indianapolis to showcase their talents in front of scouts, coaches and executives.

While some stole the show, such as Caleb Banks and his 40-yard dash, others starred in not-so-happy moments. Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck belongs to the second group. The two-time national champion took the field for his throwing session, but he wasn’t welcomed by fans.

A local Indiana Hoosiers fan reportedly booed Beck, who took on the Hoosiers for the championship in January. Despite winning the game and the title, that fan still had bad blood with Beck.

During Monday’s edition of “The Rich Eisen Show,” the veteran admitted that such behavior would hurt fans’ chances to attend the event in the future.

“I love fans being in there. There’s kids who do their own hand timers. It’s great. This is not an anti-fan thing at all,” Eisen said. “But for Carson Beck to get booed during his Combine performance was absurd. And wrong. It’s just wrong. It’s also going to lead to some people saying, ‘Why do we have fans in here at all?’”

“It kept happening over and over and over again to the point that, I don’t know if this was done purposefully or not, they stopped showing Beck on the big screen, when it was his turn to go through the drill,” Eisen said. “This, at the end of the day, is a kid who’s finally getting his shot. That’s what the Combine is for.”

While booing is normal in sports, neither Beck nor the rest of the prospects were competing that week. Booing a guy when he’s trying to make a case for NFL teams to pick him doesn’t make any sense at all.
