Former Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan has passed away this Thursday at 89, according to an announcement from his family.
Harlan remains the only person in NFL history to win Super Bowls with two different GMS and entirely different rosters.
“Bob was a visionary leader whose impact on the franchise was transformational,” Ed Policy, who’s now the team’s president and CEO, said.
“From his inspired hiring of Ron Wolf to turn around the club’s on-field fortunes to his tireless work to redevelop Lambeau Field, Bob restored the Packers to competitive excellence during his tenure and helped ensure our unique and treasured flagship NFL franchise was on sound footing for sustained generational success,” Policy added.
The current president extended commiserations to Bob’s family.
“We send our deepest sympathies to his wife, Madeline, and the entire Harlan family,” he said.
Bob Harlan Largely Responsible For Renovations To Lambeau Field

Harlan served as the Packers president from 1989 to 2008.
In one of his first moves, he hired GM Ron Wolf, who, in turn, brought in Mike Holmgren as head coach, traded for Brett Favre and signed Reggie White.
Harlan was also credited with the renovation of Lambeau Field, completed in 2003.
“Bob Harlan gave me an opportunity, and I am deeply indebted to him for that. His greatest trait, in my opinion, is that he was an honorable man, a man of his word, a man of character,” Wolf said. “He was an honor to know and a pleasure to work with.”
The former coach was eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Harlan also hired Ted Thompson before he retired, resulting in another Super Bowl win.
Mike McCarthy was the head coach then, with Aaron Rodgers the quarterback.
The Packers inducted Harlan into their Hall of Fame in 2024. There is also a plaza in front of Lambeau Field that is named after him.
