Chicago Bears Receive Disappointing Update As Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Heat Up

Trade rumors linking the Chicago Bears to star pass rusher Maxx Crosby continue to circulate. But the latest update is not good news for Chicago fans.
The Bears looked into a possible trade for the Las Vegas Raiders defender. However, new reports say the team has stepped back as more clubs show interest.
Chicago created some financial flexibility recently. According to Jason Fitzgerald of OverTheCap, the Bears opened about $33 million in cap space after moves involving Tremaine Edmunds, the DJ Moore trade, and the retirement of Drew Dalman. That amount would rank Chicago around 12th in the NFL for available cap space.
Even with that money, a deal still looks unlikely. Reports say the Raiders want two first-round picks and another player for Crosby. That price may be too high for Chicago, especially since Crosby will turn 29 soon. The Bears would risk giving up a big part of their future.
NFL insider Dianna Russini also suggested recently that Chicago may have already moved on from the idea.
Focus May Shift Toward Offensive Line

Russini reported that two teams are watching Maxx Crosby very closely. She mentioned the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens as strong possibilities.
“Maxx Crosby is drawing serious interest around the league,” Russini said. “The Dallas Cowboys are closely monitoring the situation and remain very interested, while the Baltimore Ravens are also a team to watch. GMs believe the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to work on a deal.”
Her report did not mention the Chicago Bears. That made many fans wonder if Chicago is still interested.

Earlier, NFL insider Albert Breer told fans to “stay tuned” about Chicago’s interest in Crosby and top free-agent center Tyler Linderbaum. The Bears now face a big decision. They can try to trade for an expensive defensive star or focus on fixing a crucial need on the offensive line.
The center market has already started to shrink. Tyler Biadasz signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. That move removed one option for Chicago.
Courtney Cronin of ESPN believes the Bears will likely target a veteran center instead.
“Dalman’s retirement is a significant blow to the Bears’ O line,” Cronin wrote. “Tyler Linderbaum is the most coveted free agent center, and that signing would be costly, but players such as Lloyd Cushenberry III, Tyler Biadasz and Connor McGovern would fill a major void.”
Chicago could still look at a trade for Maxx Crosby if the situation changes. For now, the team seems focused on fixing problems on offense. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens continue to show strong interest in Crosby.
