Mac Jones has had his name thrown around all offseason for various reasons.

Aside from him possibly breaking up with his girlfriend, there is chatter that his time with the 49ers might be up. The San Francisco 49ers are sitting on one of the more interesting trade assets in the league heading into free agency.

Jones went 5-3 as a starter last season, filling in for the injured Brock Purdy. He effectively showed teams that he is not done being a starter in this league. After throwing for 13 touchdowns against six interceptions, many QB-starved teams would love him.

That has sparked many trade rumors.

Matthew Kahan, an NFL Fantasy Football Analyst, cooked up a trade scenario this week that is going viral. It involves three teams: The San Francisco 49ers, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Minnesota Vikings.

The blockbuster trade proposal has the Jaguars receiving a 2026 1st-round pick from Minnesota. It then has the 49ers receiving star wideout Jordan Addison from Minnesota. The final phase has the Vikings getting Mac Jones and Brian Thomas Jr.

When it’s all said and done, it appears that the Vikings would win this trade and become an immediate Super Bowl contender.

Several quarterback-needy teams may be hesitant to trade for Mac Jones, as they will face the potential of a contract extension. Jones played at a high level in eight starts last season, filling in for an injured Brock Purdy.

In the right system, he can most certainly thrive and show his talents.

San Francisco has no problem keeping Jones. He can throw the ball, and given Brock Purdy’s injury history, it’s best to keep him on.

Unfortunately for teams around the league, he might not be going anywhere. GM John Lynch did not mince words when addressing Jones’ situation ahead of free agency. The 49ers want to keep him. Any team looking to pry him away will need to pay up.

“He’s really good for us, and we value that,” Lynch told reporters. “Somebody would have to come with something fairly strong for us to consider trading him. I think we’re a better team with him on it, and we just like having him around.”

If teams aren’t happy under center, San Francisco will put Jones back up on the block for a hefty price.
