Hours after the Baltimore Ravens landed Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, the NFL world witnessed another major move for a dangerous defender. The Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts reached an agreement that sent a one-time Pro Bowler to Wisconsin.

Several months after completing a move for Micah Parsons, the Packers added more firepower to their defense. On Friday, four teams emerged as potential landing spots for linebacker Zaire Franklin, who came off his worst season to date in 2025.

The Packers weren’t mentioned in the list of teams that could make a swing for his services, but they popped up and secured the veteran.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that the Colts sent Franklin to Green Bay after eight years with the AFC South franchise. In exchange, the Colts received defensive tackle Colby Wooden.

Franklin struggled in 2025, playing 17 games, posting 125 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. His level decreased compared to 2023 and 2024, when he recorded at least 173 tackles. The Colts’ defense improved under Lou Anarumo, but Franklin couldn’t keep up.
