Tua Tagovailoa is on his way out of Miami after six years with the Dolphins. The veteran quarterback regressed in recent seasons, and Mike McDaniel benched him in the 2025 campaign due to his lack of consistency.

McDaniel is out and Jeff Hafley will take over as head coach. With Tyreek Hill out too, Tagovailoa could be the last piece from the prior era to leave. The prospect of a trade appears complicated right now, as it would take the Dolphins to send a draft pick to convince an opponent to take Tagovailoa’s hefty contract.

If the Dolphins end up cutting him, the race for Tagovailoa’s services would heat up. On that note, an NFC team has emerged as the clear favorite to land Tagovailoa.

On Sunday, NFL aggregator Dov Kleiman shared that the Atlanta Falcons are considered the heavy favorites to sign Tua Tagovailoa.

The Falcons had Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins on the roster in 2025. Penix suffered a season-ending injury that cut his second season short. Cousins took the field again and played at a decent level. Atlanta will release Cousins at the start of the league’s new year.

Tagovailoa would be a strong option for them. Kevin Stefanski will take over as head coach, and perhaps a fresh start at quarterback can propel this team to the top of the division.
