Chilling police footage has emerged of Doug Martin on the night he died in the custody of police in October.
The NFL world was shocked to learn that Doug Martin passed away in Oakland, California, on Oct. 18 at the age of 36. Police had responded to a home invasion in Oakland that night and took Martin into custody.
Tragically, he suffered a medical emergency while in custody and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Martin’s agent, Brian Murphy, stated that his client was struggling with his mental health and “could not run” from it.
TMZ Sports has obtained and released footage of Doug Martin acting irregularly on the night of his tragic death. Martin is seen walking through a neighbor’s backyard before he smashes a window to break into the home.
Officers arrived at the home and managed to handcuff a distressed Doug Martin following a brief struggle. But after taking him outside, officers realized that he was unresponsive and attempted CPR.
Martin was taken to a hospital soon after, where he was pronounced dead.

Doug Martin Has Fourth-Most Rushing Yards In Buccaneers History

Despite being limited to 68 games over his six seasons with the Buccaneers (2012 to 2017), Martin finished with the fourth-most rushing yards in franchise history. Martin tallied 4,633 over that period, trailing only James Wilder (5,957), Mike Alsott (5,088) and Warrick Dunn (4,986).
Martin’s 26 rushing touchdowns are the third-most in Bucs history, too. He had a tremendous rookie year in 2012, rushing for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns to earn his first Pro Bowl selection.
After being limited to 16 games over the next two years, he returned to form in 2015 with 1,402 yards and six touchdowns. In his final NFL season with the Oakland Raiders, Martin had 723 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
