Green Bay Packers Pondering Unthinkable Change To Lambeau Field For 2026 That Would Enrage Fans

The Green Bay Packers could do the unthinkable ahead of the 2026 NFL season and play in a “different” venue. Lambeau Field is one of the most iconic stadiums not only in the NFL but in every major American professional sports league.
While the venue has a long and rich history, the team could make a shocking decision and agree to a naming rights deal. Packers president and CEO Ed Policy told Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal that the Packers, a fan-owned team, face a disadvantage in comparison to those owned by private owners.
“If you think about, any other team, they’ve got deep-pocketed owners, most of them are worth significantly more than that, and they could sell less than 10% of their team, give up no controlling interest, and raise a heck of a lot more than that,” Policy said.

Policy added that, initially, a naming rights deal for Lambeau Field might not be the first choice for the Packers.
“We’re soon to be the only stadium without naming rights,” Policy said. “That’s not a threshold we’re looking to cross any time soon, but we might be a little more aggressive with some of the other entitlement inventory we just hadn’t taken advantage of in the past, including things like training facility entitlements and the Titletown campus.”
However, he added that if the expenses continue to increase, they will have to study every possibility to “catch up” with the rest of the NFL. It would be hard to see something else before or after “Lambeau Field,” but considering how fast things move in the league, it might not be the craziest idea.
