The NBA has been buzzing with the father-son duo of LeBron and Bronny James. Looking at his impressive growth, King James exuded pride. However, the merging of the NFL and NBA has been something of an odd combination. But with Marcus Spears, his son is about to take the hoops community by storm.

Speaking with ‘TMZ Sports,’ the former NFL star heaped praises on his son’s basketball prowess. Detailing his one-on-one encounters with Marcus Spears Jr., the 43-year-old admitted that he has stopped competing with his son. That’s because every time he put up a challenge, ‘Swagu’ would end up on the losing end.

Predicting a bright future for his son, Spears said, “My dream scenario is for him to go somewhere and be in the NBA in a year. I think he’s got the potential to be a No. 1 pick.”

Well, Spears’ son allegedly showed signs of becoming a great basketball talent when he was just 15. Taking over the family court, he has only gotten better with time. Receiving his training from the former NBA All-Star Jermaine O’Neal, the 6’9” prodigy has picked up some important accolades.

Playing for the Overtime Elite FaZe team, Spears Jr. won the championship this Thursday. He chipped in with 30 points, three assists, and eight rebounds to steer his team to victory.

Meanwhile, you must return to the LeBron-Bronny duo when discussing the basketball father-son duo. And their chemistry is looking quite exciting to watch.

When it comes to hailing their son, both James and Spears are on the same page. With Bronny showing significant similarities to his father, the 4-time NBA star has publicly shown his support. Earlier this month, as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 128-104, JJ Redick thought of giving the youngster some practice.

Grabbing the opportunity with both hands, Bronny drilled a fourth-quarter three-pointer. As the entire arena erupted, the Akron-born, who was on the bench, looked visibly happy to see his son score.

Thus, if Spears’ prediction comes true and Bronny grows up to be a star, fans might have a James Jr. versus Spears Jr. NBA showdown in the near future.
