A new update has emerged on the trade speculation surrounding Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Recently, it was reported that the Rams were willing to Davante Adams if they could land AJ Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Rams have been heavily linked to the Brown trade speculation.

But during Tuesday’s appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, ESPN’s Adam Schefter poured cold water over the Adams trade talk. Schefter reported that the Rams just paid Adams a $6 million roster bonus, a clear-cut indicator they’re not trading him.

Last year, Adams signed a two-year, $44 million deal with the Rams after being released by the New York Jets. Adams caught 60 passes for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns despite missing three games.

The Rams advanced to the NFC Championship Game as the No. 5 seed. There, they fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

The Rams already emptied out their draft capital by acquiring star cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs. It would cost GM Les Snead a fortune to acquire AJ Brown, and he shouldn’t risk giving up more draft assets now.

LA’s best bet is to keep Adams, who proved to be a great fit in Sean McVay’s offense. Adams perfectly filled the No. 2 wide receiver role behind Puka Nacua, to say nothing of his leadership and big-game experience.

Adams only has one year remaining on his contract. The Rams may as well keep the core together and see if they can finally return to the Super Bowl next season, rather than risk jeopardizing team chemistry. It’s not like Matthew Stafford needs a new supporting cast, after all.
