A month before the 2026 NFL draft, a couple of teams are already preparing for next year’s. The 2027 class is expected to be stronger than this year, starting with the QB1. Fernando Mendoza is a lock this year following a 16-0 season with the Indiana Hoosiers that ended with the national championship.

Some teams plan for the 2027 draft, which will include Texas Longhorns star Arch Manning. The junior quarterback had a solid 2025 season, his first as a starter, leading Steve Sarkisian’s team to a 10-3 record, including a Citrus Bowl win over the Michigan Wolverines.

After the Jaylen Waddle trade from the Miami Dolphins to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, the AFC East team signed its name on the list of teams set to compete for Arch Manning’s services next offseason.

Cardinals insider Kyle Odegaard mentioned Arizona, the Dolphins and the New York Jets as the three teams “taking” to secure the No. 1 pick, which could automatically give them Manning.

Mike Francesa Says Arch Manning’s Family Won’t Let Him Go To Jets

Last week, during his “The Mike Francesa Podcast,” the veteran analyst said that Arch Manning’s family would likely try to prevent the player from joining the New York Jets in the 2027 NFL draft.

“I’ll tell you this, Jet fans. I hate to give you this a year in advance, and it will probably make you hate the Mannings more if you’re a Jet fan and you hate the Mannings already, because remember, Peyton didn’t want to play for the Jets. They will not let Arch Manning play for the Jets,” Francesa declared. “I’m telling you right now, they will manipulate the draft, they will never let him get drafted by the Jets. You can take that to the bank.

The Jets have been one of the worst organizations in the NFL, and nothing suggests that would change anytime soon. Manning has a bright future, and his family could pull the same card they use to prevent Peyton Manning from joining the Gang Green and Eli Manning from joining the San Diego Chargers.
