The owner of a top MLB franchise is reportedly in the mix to purchase the Seattle Seahawks.

A week after the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60, the estate of Paul Allen announced that the NFC West began its sale process. Jody Allen has run the team since her brother’s passing in October 2018.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been mentioned as a candidate to purchase the Seahawks from Paul Allen’s estate. Of course, there will be several suitors interested in purchasing the defending Super Bowl champions.

According to Polymarket, Seattle Mariners majority owner John W. Stanton is a front-runner to purchase the Seahawks. Polymarket gives Stanton a 32 percent chance of buying the NFL club, with Bezos ahead at 34 percent.

The Stanton-led group purchased the majority of the Mariners’ stake from Nintendo in 2016.

Though Stanton has drawn criticism from Mariners fans for spending fractions compared to other MLB owners, the team has made the postseason twice in the last four years after missing it every year from 2002 to 2021. They reached Game 7 of the ALCS last year, barely losing to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jody Allen may be ending her tenure as the Seahawks’ owner. But the Allen family will always be cherished in Seattle, and it couldn’t have ended on a better note.

The Seattle Seahawks won four NFC Championships and two Super Bowls under the Allen family. The NFC West club had six winning seasons during Jody’s seven full years as owner, finishing below .500 only in 2021 (7-10).

She made the gutsy decision to move on from disgruntled quarterback Russell Wilson in 2022. Two years later, she made the even bolder call to move on from beloved head coach Pete Carroll. Allen trusted GM John Schneider to get the next hire right, and he certainly did achieved that with Mike Macdonald.
