New Report Reveals Details About ‘Career-Threatening’ Issue That Caused Ravens To Pull Out Of Maxx Crosby Trade

Maxx Crosby became one of the most popular names in the NFL after the Las Vegas Raiders shipped him to Baltimore ahead of the 2026 free agency. The star defensive end didn’t have the best experience in Baltimore, which allegedly included general manager Eric DeCosta and head coach Jesse Minter not showing up for hours.

The Ravens didn’t book a flight directly to Baltimore and flew him to Washington, D.C., among other things. Crosby seemed ready to lead the Ravens’ defense into a new era, but his injury played against him.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter explained that a “concerning medical issue” forced Baltimore to back out of the deal. More details emerged on Tuesday, shedding light on what could be a disastrous situation for the Raiders now.

Maxx Crosby’s Medical Issue Revealed

Ryan McFadden of ESPN wrote a lengthy recap of what transpired behind the scenes that led to the Ravens’ shocking decision. DeCosta informed Crosby that one of the doctors had concerns about his knee and wanted to get more opinions on it.

Baltimore had several doctors outside the organization, including Dan Cooper, a Cowboys’ team doctor. Cooper and others voiced more concerns about Crosby’s knee, finding out that his durability was in question after 2026.

“The consensus was that Crosby would be able to play in 2026. The Ravens’ concern centered on the uncertainty of Crosby’s durability after a couple of seasons in Baltimore because of a degenerative issue in his knee, a source told ESPN,” McFadden wrote.

The Ravens assured Crosby they would get the deal done regardless of the issue. However, as we know now, they didn’t keep their word. Instead, they pivoted to Cincinnati Bengals star Trey Hendrickson, who joined them on a four-year, $112 million deal hours after the Crosby trade fell apart.
