Paige Spiranac Comes Out Of Nowhere To Defend Dan Orlovsky After Wild Take
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky is under heavy criticism after he made an eyebrow-raising take involving Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson, considered the two best quarterbacks in the 2026 draft class.
While Mendoza remains the consensus No. 1 quarterback in this year’s draft, Simpson has earned more recognition in recent weeks. So much so that some people have called him the best quarterback over Mendoza. Orlovsky echoed that feeling during Monday’s edition of ESPN’s “Get Up.”
“I think Ty Simpson is the best quarterback in this class,” Orlovsky said. “I think when you look at the body of work and what was asked of these two quarterbacks, you have to start with the question, who needed to do more to carry their football team to play well? Ty Simpson, and it’s not close.”
The take earned him plenty of criticism. Orlovsky reacted with a telling message on social media.

Paige Spiranac Defends Dan Orlovsky Against Heavy Criticism

Amid all the heat directed at Orlovsky, Paige Spiranac reminded people that there is a line nobody should cross, no matter how strongly you disagree with a sports take.
“I hate this narrative that Dan is playing the victim after a bad take,” Spiranac wrote. “Criticism over a public opinion is fair game and I’m sure he can handle that but most people don’t realize the amount of vile hate, threats and abuse that is sent privately or even to family members. This sort of behavior shouldn’t be normalized. We can have disagreements and heated discussions without crossing the line.”

Even after all the negative comments he received, Orlovsky isn’t changing his stance. He is confident that Simpson is the best signal caller in the 2026 draft.
