Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin Decision Has Fans Fuming
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

The Buffalo Bills prepare for the 2026 NFL season with renewed expectations. After parting ways with Sean McDermott following a nine-year partnership, they promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach.
Buffalo made a series of moves to try to get over the hump and play in the Super Bowl, but some rubbed fans the wrong way. Veteran safety Damar Hamlin will stay with the team for one more year. On Friday, the team announced that Hamlin re-signed on a veteran minimum.
He will play a sixth season with the Bills. In 53 games, he has tallied 185 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two interceptions for 19 yards. Hamlin’s level hasn’t been the best in recent seasons and this decision rubbed fans the wrong way.

Many fans disagreed with the decision to bring back Hamlin. The safety would likely serve as a backup, but not everybody liked the news.
“I kind of thought we were done with the nice guy nonsense as well as the slow retreads on D? Guess not. Welcome back I guess,” one fan said.

Hamlin received criticism during the 2025 NFL season. Some said he was too slow and couldn’t do a proper job stopping opposing offenses. Perhaps a backup role could suit him better now.
