Troy Aikman Takes Direct Shot At Dallas Cowboys While Talking About His New Job With The Miami Dolphins

After several years of working as a top NFL analyst, Troy Aikman expanded his area of expertise during the 2026 offseason. The retired quarterback, who seems to have a clear opinion on the important topics, including the recent increase in severe injuries, drew attention.
Before talking about C.J. Stroud’s regression, Aikman joined the Miami Dolphins, as they tried to find a new general manager and then a head coach following Mike McDaniel’s departure.
Aikman helped the team hire Jon-Eric Sullivan as general manager and then Jeff Hafley as head coach. Meanwhile, his role with the team remains undisclosed.
Troy Aikman Pulls For Dolphins After Cowboys Never Reached Out To Him
Talking with Clarence Hill Jr., Aikman opened up on his new role with the Dolphins. He acknowledged that the AFC East team saw something in him that the Cowboys ignored.
“I think the Dolphins were wise in understanding my relationships around the league,” Aikman said. “And knowing that I have information that they don’t have or can’t get. And I think they were smart in taking advantage of that — whether it was through me or through somebody else. The Cowboys have never elected to do that, at least with me.
“You know, maybe they have with others. But, no, I don’t feel there’s a conflict [with the Cowboys]. But I will say I’m pulling for the Dolphins . . . because now I have something at stake, and I think they hired two really talented, wonderful people, and I think that’s gonna prove itself out. . . But, yeah, I’m pulling for them. I want to see them do well because I feel like my fingerprints are on it as well.”
ESPN’s Troy Aikman explained to @clarencehilljr that the #Dolphins hired him this offseason “knowing that I have information they don’t have or can’t get,” leaning on his relationships from all the games he’s called and the people he interacts with.

The Cowboys continue to win with a formula that has proven to fail time and time again. Perhaps reaching out to Aikman would have given them something extra.
