Quintayvious Hutchins, a rookie linebacker for the New England Patriots, has been charged with domestic assault less than a month after being picked in the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to court records, authorities charged the 23-year-old with assault and battery involving a family or household member after an alleged incident on Tuesday at Voute Hall on the Boston College campus in Chestnut Hill.
Hutchins appeared in Newton District Court on Wednesday morning and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge. The court later released him without bail and scheduled another hearing. Officials have not released additional details about the incident.
The Patriots acknowledged the situation shortly after the news surfaced. The team said in a statement, “We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.”
Patriots Rookie Faces Uncertain Start

New England drafted Hutchins in the seventh round of last month’s NFL Draft with the 247th overall pick. The former Boston College edge rusher joined the team after spending five years with the Eagles program. He also attended the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine during the pre-draft process.
Hutchins recently took part in the Patriots’ rookie minicamp at Gillette Stadium. He left practice early on the second day because of an apparent injury. Soon after the minicamp ended, he signed his rookie contract with the team.

Before the draft, Hutchins built several ties with the Patriots organization. He met with head coach Mike Vrabel, who was also having a tough time, during Boston College’s Pro Day and later attended the Patriots’ local Pro Day in April.
According to court records, attorney Michael DiStefano now represents Hutchins. DiStefano works with Todd & Weld LLP, the same legal practice that previously represented Stefon Diggs and Christian Barmore during separate legal matters last winter.
He told reporters he did not expect the call from New England
“If I could be honest, I didn’t think I was going to get a call,” Hutchins said after the draft. “So, getting that call from the Patriots was like a dream come true, and hope and faith rising inside of me, knowing that I have another chance to go showcase my talent.”
Hutchins grew up in Alabama before making his mark at Boston College. After the Patriots drafted him on April 25.
