New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston has addressed the Jaxson Dart-Donald Trump controversy in a way only he can.
Winston attended the team’s voluntary OTAs this week and was around for media sessions on Friday.
One of the NFL’s more outspoken players, Winston is known for dropping memorable nuggets. And he did not disappoint.
The veteran QB spoke with reporters regarding the controversy surrounding the team following a meeting earlier in the week.
The Giants hosted a sit-down on Tuesday to discuss the elephant in the room and insist they have moved on.
If you’re unsure of which elephant, it’s Dart’s appearance at a rally last Friday, during which he introduced Donald Trump, and one teammate’s reaction.
Abdul Carter took to social media to lash out, prompting speculation over a locker room divide and forcing the Giants to call a meeting.
Jameis Winston Brings World Cup Into Focus

Winston was one of the players who spoke during Tuesday’s meeting. He used the upcoming World Cup to illustrate his belief that diversity and differences should be welcomed.
With New York’s MetLife Stadium to play host to some World Cup games when the soccer tournament kicks off next month, Winston used it as a reference.
“We got people coming from all nationalities, religions, perspectives that’s coming into this city… this city that we represent,” he said in an impassioned speech.
“Are we gonna get mad and just say ‘Oh my God, why are all these people from there coming over here? They taking all the parking spots, they doing all this stuff’. Or are we gonna embrace the diversity that sports brings us?”

Carter was absent from Tuesday’s meeting due to family commitments and the celebration of a religious holiday.
He also missed voluntary OTAs on Wednesday but was back in the building as of Thursday.
