Important TJ Watt Trade Update Emerges After Myles Garrett Blockbuster

Although it was considered impossible in the past couple of years, trading TJ Watt away became a possibility for some within Steelers Nation in the 2025 season. The defensive specialist became the heart and soul of the unit, but that hasn’t stopped trade rumors.
The Cleveland Browns already shocked the world on Monday by trading two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, and some think the Steelers could do the same with Watt.
Amid a busy offseason in which the Steelers added plenty of pieces, especially on the offensive end of the ball, the speculation surrounding Watt’s future remains.
Where Do The Steelers Stand On TJ Watt’s Future?

Steelers insider Mark Kaboly shared the latest on a potential TJ Watt trade. Kaboly didn’t close the door on that possibility, but said it might not happen immediately.
“I’m not going to sit here and pretend that the Browns didn’t get a pretty significant pull from the Rams for Myles Garrett, because they did,” Kaboly said. “But the reason why I wouldn’t have done it this year is the Steelers have committed so much to win in 2026 that it makes no sense to move on at this particular point from Watt. Now, if you come to me next year with that deal, then I’m all ears. To me, Watt is still quite valuable to the 2026 version of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
After bringing back Aaron Rodgers and adding Michael Pittman Jr. and Rico Dowdle to the offense, it is unlikely to see the Steelers parting ways with Watt. Perhaps they could hit the reset button next year, with Rodgers officially retired.
