An interesting rumor has surfaced online in the wake of AJ Brown’s Philadelphia Eagles departure on Monday.

The NFC East champions have traded the wide receiver to the New England Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. The latter will be the first of the Patriots’ two picks in the fifth round next year.

Brown’s exit comes as no surprise, given his behavior all of last season.

But, according to Eagles fan and X user Mansa Simba, the discord had been simmering for a few years and involved a former teammate, defensive end Haason Reddick. The Eagles traded Reddick after reaching the Super Bowl in 2023, leaving many puzzled.

Mansa, who cites someone he trusts, says that Reddick and Brown were both seeing the same massage therapist in 2023. Brown was unaware, but Jalen Hurts knew and did not tell him, despite their closeness.

“One person who reportedly did know was QB1,” he wrote as part of a thread. “However, QB1’s focus was football, and the team was in the middle of a championship-caliber season. The information I received suggests QB1 never informed No. 11 because he simply didn’t care about the personal drama and viewed it as none of his business.”

Hurts did not attend Brown’s wedding this offseason.

Once Brown learned he was part of a triangle, things blew up in the locker room, which ultimately led to the Eagles trading Reddick to the New York Jets.

The trade did not appease Brown.

“No. 11 allegedly felt betrayed by how everything unfolded,” Mansa notes.

It’s alleged that Brown tried to force a trade with his behavior in 2024, but the Eagles didn’t go for it due to financial reasons. Then they went on to win the Super Bowl.

It still wasn’t enough for the wideout, who took to social media to downplay the feeling of finally reaching the pinnacle of professional football.

“The information I received suggests that No. 11 struggled to move past the situation and that this dynamic played a significant role in why he is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles,” the report continues.

The trade reunites Brown with head coach Mike Vrabel, whom he played for in Tennessee. It will also see him realize a dream of suiting up for New England, a team he had hoped would draft him.

The claims above remain unverified, but there was a noticeable distance between Brown and Hurts over the past two seasons.
