Although the NFL offseason is going on, it’s still a bit happening for Jonathon Cooper. He has spoken publicly after he and his girlfriend, Jade Fiegen, were arrested following a domestic dispute in Colorado.
According to Douglas County jail records, police arrested Cooper late Thursday night on two domestic violence charges and one criminal mischief charge. Fiegen was also arrested on domestic violence and criminal mischief charges after the couple reportedly argued over accusations of infidelity.
Cooper appeared in court on Friday and was released on a personal recognizance bond, according to his attorney, Harvey Steinberg. Later, the Denver Broncos linebacker posted a message on social media, apologizing for his actions and sharing a Bible verse with his followers.
Cooper Issues Public Apology After Release

In an Instagram post, Cooper acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and expressed regret.
“I realize posting a Bible quote right after something very serious happens does not just mean everything is okay,” Cooper wrote. “I apologize to my family, to my friends and my community… and so many others.”

He added, “Sincerely, I apologize. This situation is not who I am.”
According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by The Daily Mail, Cooper and Fiegen, who have dated for about four years, argued inside his apartment after she accused him of cheating.
Fiegen told police she grabbed Cooper’s phone, threw it across the room, then tried to retrieve it. Cooper told officers he grabbed her upper arms to retrieve the phone. He also said he used his neck to block her from reaching the device during another attempt.

After the struggle ended, Cooper said he picked up Fiegen’s phone and warned that he would break it if she refused to leave. He later admitted that he bit the phone, which cracked the screen.
Fiegen gave officers a different account. She claimed Cooper grabbed her by the neck, pinned her against a wall for about a minute, threw her to the ground several times, and punched a wall near her face.
However, the officer who documented her injuries wrote that the marks she observed did not appear consistent with that description. The affidavit noted a small mark on Fiegen’s neck, scratches on her arm, and a cut on her hand.
The Broncos acknowledged the incident.
“We are aware of the matter and are gathering more information,” the team said.
Cooper remains an important part of Denver’s defense. He has played every game during the past three seasons and recorded 27 sacks. In November 2024, the Broncos rewarded him with a four-year contract extension worth up to $60 million, including $33 million in guarantees.
Cooper is scheduled to return to court on Monday for a disposition hearing.
