The disturbing situation unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when police officers responded to a welfare check in Buckhead. Relatives grew worried about 71-year-old Nateal Campbell and requested that emergency personnel check the upscale townhouse. Upon arrival, officers discovered her unresponsive body, and she was officially pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The suspect initially barricaded himself inside the home before officers successfully entered the property to detain him. Authorities later identified the individual as 41-year-old Ciarre Campbell, the older brother of Calais Campbell.

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Wednesday morning on multiple felony counts. He faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a felony commission.

Public records indicate that police previously responded to the residence for potential mental health and arson concerns.

Campbell, who has been arrested before, has spent years making a massive impact both on and off the field. He is widely recognized across the league, ranking third for total sacks among active professional players.
