The Dallas Cowboys will be without one of their newest defensive additions when the 2026 regular season begins.
The NFL has announced the suspension of outside linebacker Charles Snowden for the first three games of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
The discipline stems from Snowden’s 2024 DUI arrest while he was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The league confirmed in a statement that Snowden will be allowed to take part in all training camp practices and preseason games before the suspension begins.
“Dallas’ Charles Snowden, DE, Virginia, has been suspended by the Commissioner for the first three games of the 2026 season,” the statement reads. “He is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games; his suspension will take effect as of the roster reduction to 53 players.”
That means he will miss Dallas’ first three regular-season contests. He will be eligible to return in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.
Charles Snowden Can Practice But Must Sit Out Opening Three Games

Snowden signed with the Cowboys on June 18 after impressing coaches during the team’s mandatory minicamp on a tryout basis.
The 28-year-old arrives in Dallas after spending the past two seasons with the Raiders. During that stretch, he appeared in 31 games and made 18 starts while developing into a key contributor on Las Vegas’ defense.
Snowden spent time with the Chicago Bears before joining the Raiders. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia.
The suspension results from an arrest that occurred in December 2024. Police found Snowden asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. Officers reported signs of impairment before taking him into custody.
Body camera footage from the arrest later surfaced online and showed Snowden appearing confused during the encounter with officers.
The Cowboys are scheduled to report to training camp in Oxnard, California, later this month. Snowden will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot throughout camp before serving his suspension to open the regular season.
