New details have emerged about the final days of former NFL defensive lineman Josh Mauro.
According to a newly released Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s report, obtained by the California Post, Mauro allegedly spent four days drinking alcohol and using cocaine before he died on April 23 at the age of 35.
Investigators pieced together Mauro’s final days through interviews with several women who visited his Arizona home during that time. The report describes an ongoing party that continued until just hours before he was found dead.
According to the report, investigators found drug paraphernalia near Mauro’s body, including a bottle cap containing a white substance, white powder beside a rolled-up dollar bill, a syringe in a trash can and what appeared to be bloodstained tissues.
The report also states that Mauro met a female dancer about a week before his death. She told investigators she visited his home on April 23 with two other women and a friend.
According to her account, Mauro and his friend consumed tequila and snorted cocaine while listening to music. She said she later fell asleep and discovered Mauro unresponsive when she woke up.
Josh Mauro’s Official Cause Of Death Now Disclosed

Mauro’s father, Greg, announced his son’s death days later, asking for prayers as the family mourned the loss of their “amazing son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend.”
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner previously ruled Mauro’s death an accident. Officials determined he died from acute combined fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol intoxication.
Mauro entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2014. He spent eight seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Over his career, Mauro appeared in 80 regular-season games. He recorded 130 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble.
