Dave Portnoy has defended Tom Brady for years. The Barstool Sports founder has never hidden his love for the New England Patriots or the quarterback who helped lead the team to six Super Bowl titles.

His support even reached another level during the Deflategate scandal. Portnoy and three Barstool employees handcuffed themselves together outside NFL headquarters in New York City to protest Brady’s suspension. The protest ended with all of them spending a night in jail, showing just how strongly Portnoy stood behind his favorite player.

But now, Portnoy seems to be changing his view. After Brady took part in another promotional stunt with Logan Paul at Fanatics Fest and later exchanged middle fingers with Paul during the FIFA World Cup final, Portnoy just couldn’t accept the NFL legend’s recent behavior. The staged slap between Brady and Paul at Fanatics Fest had already gone viral.

Portnoy Urges Brady To Step Away From Michael Rubin

Portnoy shared his thoughts on X and directed much of his frustration at Fanatics founder Michael Rubin. He believes Brady’s close relationship with Rubin is completely ruining the former NFL star’s image.

“Can somebody please shake Tom Brady and tell him to get as far away from Michael Rubin as possible and stop lamifying his entire legacy,” Portnoy wrote on X.

Portnoy has often called Brady the greatest player in Patriots history. But now he is clearly frustrated with the legend’s public appearances since retiring from the NFL.

However, since retiring, Brady has stayed busy with broadcasting, business projects, and appearances at top sporting events. He has also worked closely with Michael Rubin at several Fanatics events, where internet personalities like Logan Paul are often part of the lineup.

The staged slap between Brady and Paul at Fanatics Fest clearly shows that Brady is craving attention because it doesn’t fit the image of a seven-time Super Bowl champion.

Adding to that, their interaction at the World Cup final. Photos and videos showed Brady and Paul joking together in the stadium and exchanging middle fingers. This is not at all expected from a legend like Brady.

As a result, more football fans have begun discussing whether Brady’s recent public appearances are diverting attention from the incredible legacy he built during his NFL career.
