Kealia Watt can’t stay away from the gym for sure. The former professional soccer player and wife of NFL legend J.J. Watt shared a gym selfie on Instagram on Tuesday, July 21.

In the photo, the 34-year-old wore a matching black workout outfit with a sports bra and high-waisted yoga pants as she showed off the results of another training session.

Kealia took the mirror selfie while kneeling on a workout mat inside a fitness studio. She appeared sweaty, making it evident that she had just finished an intense workout.

This post came just days after Watt publicly defended his wife’s soccer career following a social media post from MLS club Real Salt Lake.

J.J. Watt stepped in after Real Salt Lake welcomed the Watt family, but focused mainly on the former Houston Texans star. He felt the post overlooked Kealia Watt’s long list of achievements in soccer.

He responded on X saying, “The woman in the photo grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah state championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history… Could probably be worth a mention, but idk.”

Everyone praised Watt for using his platform to support his wife’s career. This got a bigger conversation about giving female athletes the recognition they deserve.

Kealia had a successful soccer career long before. She played at the University of North Carolina, where she helped the Tar Heels win a national championship.

Later, she played in the National Women’s Soccer League for the Houston Dash and the Chicago Red Stars. Kealia also represented the U.S. Women’s National Team and scored one of the fastest goals in team history during her international debut.

Since retiring from soccer, Kealia has stayed involved in sports. She supports young athletes through The Ohai Foundation and works with brands like Puma.

Meanwhile, J.J. Watt continues his work as an NFL analyst for CBS Sports while getting ready for the 2026 NFL season.
