The New York Jets took another hit on the injury front during training camp.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said running back Isaiah Davis is dealing with a “minor knee” injury. Glenn told reporters that Davis will miss “maybe a couple of weeks” while he recovers.

It could’ve been a lot worse, though. Glenn feels confident Davis will be good to go for Week 1. Still, missing time right now is tough. Training camp reps are huge, especially for players trying to earn more playing time.

Davis was set to be one of the more exciting players to watch in camp. He showed some real talent when given the chance last year, and many expected him to push Braelon Allen for the backup job behind their main starter.

Davis now faces a tough battle as he works back from the injury.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini recently mentioned how much the coaching staff likes the young running back.

“The player that nobody talks about, who this coaching staff is very high on, is Isaiah Davis. I mean, when he got in there last year, Isaiah Davis did some good things,” Cimini said on the “Jets Collective” podcast.

Cimini also pushed back on the idea that Allen already owns the backup role.

“I think everyone is assuming that Braelon Allen is gonna win the No. 2 running back job because he’s got the biggest biceps and he looks like Hercules, but that’s not exactly the case,” Cimini said.

With Davis sidelined for the next few weeks, Allen now has more chances to strengthen his position on the depth chart. Davis will likely focus on getting healthy and returning before the regular season begins.

The Jets also shared updates on several other injured players. Glenn said pass rusher Kingsley Enagbare is dealing with an ankle issue and remains day-to-day.

“I’m not really worried about that,” Glenn said.

Cornerback Nahshon Wright is dealing with a hip strain, but Glenn expects him to be okay. Cornerback Brandon Stephens also gave the team a quick scare when he left practice, but he got back again with the team.

For now, Davis is the biggest injury concern for the Jets. They’ll just be hoping his knee heals up on time as camp continues.
