Kirk Cousins Sends A Stern Warning To Raiders Teammate Maxx Crosby [VIDEO]

Kirk Cousins doesn’t mind taking a few hits during practice, but there is one area he wants defenders to avoid, that is his throwing arm.
The veteran quarterback made that clear after taking a hit to his elbow during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Houston Texans, explaining that his past injury history is why he’s so protective of that arm.
“My elbow got hit,” Cousins said.
Cousins Wants Contact, But Not To His Throwing Arm

Cousins said he has even joked with Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby about the issue. He told Crosby that defenders can hit him in other areas, but they should leave his arm alone.
“I joke with Maxx, and I say, ‘You can touch me anywhere you want, just don’t touch my arm,’” Cousins said.

Cousins does not want to avoid physical play altogether. He said contact to his ribs or hips can help him prepare for regular-season games.
“You want to bump me in the ribs? Fine,” Cousins said. “I think if anything, hitting me in the hips or the ribs is actually good because it simulates what I need to feel.”
The quarterback has a clear reason for drawing that line. Cousins said he has taken hits in games that caused serious problems.
“I’ve got some scars from some hits in real games where helmets go into armpits and things, and it ruins your season,” Cousins said.
For Cousins, a hit near his throwing arm could affect his ability to make throws. That makes those hits different from contact elsewhere on his body.
Quarterbacks normally wear red jerseys during practice to signal that defenders should not hit them. Cousins joked that the rule can get harder to follow during intense joint practices.
“I might as well just take the red jersey off because you’re playing with, sometimes, an understood rule that if it’s not understood, then what are we doing?” he said.
Cousins and Crosby had a tense practice scene earlier this month, which led the Raiders to pull both guys out of team drills.
Luckily, Wednesday’s incident didn’t get nearly that out of hand.
