The Philadelphia Eagles ran joint practices with the Patriots this week, sharing plenty of highlight clips along the way. One post in particular caught fans’ attention for a different reason.

The clip showed a two-minute drill period near the end of Wednesday’s session. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye tried to fit a pass into A.J. Brown, with cornerback Tariq Woolen draped in tight coverage. The ball hit Brown’s hands but didn’t stay there.

The Eagles‘ own account posted the play in slow motion, catching every angle of the sequence. The pass ricocheted off Brown’s hands into the air, where Eagles edge rusher Jalyx Hunt made a diving, one-handed interception to end the drive.

The team’s caption read, “Came for the slo-mo, stayed for the 1-handed scoop.”

Reaction to the clip filled up fast.

“Eagles are petty for this,” one fan laughed.

Another needled the Patriots directly, asking, “Who’s number one on the Patriots? What a drop!”

A third fan turned the moment into a jab at Brown’s history in Philadelphia, writing, “AJ finally helping the Eagles.”

One commenter pushed back on the framing entirely, arguing the miscue belonged more to Maye than Brown.

“Terrible pick by Maye,” they wrote. “Apparently when the ball hits the WR’s hands and somehow gets picked, it’s the QB’s fault. Or does that only apply to Hurts?”

The play capped an eventful week for Brown, who returned to Philadelphia’s practice field for the first time since his June trade to New England

Cameras caught his shared embrace with Jalen Hurts earlier this week. Brown and Hurts’ relationship broke down nearing the end of his time in Philly. But it appears they’ve mended fences on the back of his move.

Brown’s drop wasn’t the only notable moment from the two days of practice. Jalen Hurts fielded a pointed question about what advice he’d give Maye on getting the most out of Brown, and he kept his answer brief, redirecting the conversation back to Maye’s own development instead.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel offered a different kind of praise for Brown, pointing to changes in his communication and accountability since their days together in Tennessee.

Despite the rough sequence, Brown had largely strong showings across both practices, drawing praise from reporters covering camp for his route-running and physicality against Philadelphia’s secondary.

The Eagles and Patriots meet again in preseason action this weekend, giving both sides one more measured look before final roster decisions take shape.
