Megyn Kelly Rips Roger Goodell Over Anti-American Super Bowl Idea

Megyn Kelly is firing back at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. He floated the idea of an international Super Bowl. Kelly called the suggestion un-American during her SiriusXM show.
Goodell spoke with German media outlet RTL/ntv. Besides floating the idea of a permanent international NFL team, he said that international cities could host the big game. He preferred seeing an NFL team in that city first.
“There are definitely international cities that could host something like that,” Goodell said. “But we would like to see an NFL team in such a city first.”
Kelly rejected the entire concept.
“Playing the Super Bowl outside of America would be like celebrating July 4th in England,” Kelly said, via the New York Post. “What could Goodell be thinking? Football is a quintessentially American sport — created in America by an American, in and with the support of American cities.”
Megyn Kelly Defends American Super Bowl Roots

Kelly argued the Super Bowl belongs only in the United States. She focused on both tradition and money. American host cities collect major revenue every year. Moving the game would strip that benefit.
“Why would we ever celebrate its biggest, most exciting, most-watched moment outside of our own country?” she asked.
Barstool founder Dave Portnoy joined the criticism. He said the idea helps owners more than fans.
The NFL already expands overseas with regular-season games. Goodell wants even more international growth. Kelly sees the Super Bowl as a line that should never cross.
Megyn Kelly Got Destroyed by Colin Cowherd Before

This is not Kelly’s first high-profile sports take. Colin Cowherd previously dismantled her on air. He pushed back after Kelly called Caitlin Clark a coward over her takes on trans athletes. Cowherd labeled her approach cowardly and shut it down.
“I think, believing that political comments are courageous is a misdiagnosis of expertise,” Cowherd said. “Listen, I don’t ask my general contractor to fix my cavities and I don’t ask my dentist to tile my bathroom.”
Kelly continues speaking her mind on American traditions. Goodell keeps pushing global expansion. The clash highlights different views on the NFL’s future. Many fans side with keeping the Super Bowl at home.
The debate will likely continue as the league plans more overseas games. Kelly made her position clear. The Super Bowl should always stay in America, in her view.
