Worthy showed a few good instances as a rookie. After Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury, Kansas City gave Worthy a bigger role. He finished the season strongly and looked ready to take another step. However, a shoulder injury slowed him in 2025 and stopped much of that progress.

“Worthy had a 157-yard game in the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles in 2024, but his 2025 season was ruined by a shoulder injury, and it’s unclear whether he is more than just a downfield burner,” Barnwell wrote.

That question gives Worthy a clear challenge. He needs to show that he can become a complete receiver. He also needs to stay healthy and build on the promise he showed early in his career.

The Chiefs expected Worthy to take on a larger role in the previous season but somehow those plans changed. Now, he gets another chance to show why Kansas City made him a first-round pick.

The Chiefs face a bigger question in their wide receiver room heading into the offseason. Rashee Rice is entering the final year of his deal, and between past off-field trouble and uncertainty, Kansas City simply can’t bank on keeping him around.

Behind him, rookie Cyrus Allen could carve out a bigger role if he keeps turning heads like he did in camp, while Tyquan Thornton is hungry for targets but still has to show he’s more than just a one-dimensional deep threat.
