Rams Get Red Flag Warning About Myles Garrett Amid Injury Concerns

Sean McVay is done guessing on Myles Garrett’s knee. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year is having arthroscopic surgery and heading to injured reserve. The Rams will play at least four games without the man they just traded a fortune to get.
Charlie Kravitz put the scare on The Domonique Foxworth Show.
“Now we have the news that Myles Garrett is having arthroscopic surgery and is missing a minimum of four games for any injury. And he’s had some knee and foot issues, apparently, have plagued him for several years.”
McVay said the same thing in plainer words. The maintenance plan failed in Melbourne. Garrett posted zero tackles and zero sacks in a 27-7 loss to the 49ers.
Myles Garrett Surgery Ends The Wait-And-See Plan
He later called it the worst version of himself.
“The prognosis is I think it’s the next right thing for us,” McVay told J.B. Long. “He had a knee issue, it prevented his ability to be able to practice, thought it could be something that he’d be able to kind of work through.”
Game speed ended that hope.
“Once you get into real game-like settings and situations, you realize, ‘All right. Hey, he’s not feeling the way that he’s accustomed to. He’s not able to impact and influence positive change like he’s accustomed to.’”
McVay said the staff agreed to fix it. NFL.com reported he still will not set a date.
Garrett first felt the knee on July 29. He missed most of camp. The Rams still flew him to Australia. McVay said he knew after that game that injured reserve was coming.
Myles Garrett Absence Hits The Hardest Stretch
Los Angeles sent Jared Verse and draft picks to Cleveland for him. That blockbuster trade was supposed to close the Aaron Donald gap. Instead, the edge is on IR before Week 2.
He turns 31 in December. Draft Sharks lists old lower-body hits: a 2016 knee strain, foot sprains in 2017, a dislocated toe in 2023, a foot bruise in 2024. He had missed only two games from 2021 until this year. The pile-up is the red flag.
McVay is leaning on continuity.
“Unfortunately, Myles didn’t get a chance to practice, really, at all with us. It was a very limited number of opportunities.”
Josaiah Stewart should see the snaps. The coach also said Week 2 usually brings “the most changes.”
The next month is brutal: Giants, Broncos, Eagles, Bills. The earliest return is Arizona in Week 6, and only if the knee cooperates. A summer practice clip made Garrett look unstoppable. Week 1 made the opposite case. Myles Garrett still has to prove the surgery was the reset, not the warning.
