The Denver Broncos did not have a good outing in their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. They suffered a 31-10 loss, a discouraging start to their 2026 campaign.
What made the loss much more profound is that Marvin Mims Jr, the team’s star wide receiver, experienced hip discomfort during the contest.
While injuries have become a common theme after the opening festivities, Mims’ injury sparks concern for Denver. They are an up-and-coming team heading into the 2026 season.

Mims was already dealing with a recurrence of a hip injury during the Broncos’ training camp. He summed it up as “some old stuff coming back up” in previous interviews.
But there’s some good news about his latest injury scare.

That’s good news for Denver. He initially went out early in the game against the Chiefs due to a hip injury. But he came back later to return a punt late in the contest.
Broncos’ Offseason Wasn’t Ideal
After what was supposed to be a down year, the Denver Broncos won the AFC West in 2025 and made the playoffs. While Bo Nix received most of the praise, it was guys like Marvin Mims Jr and Courtland Sutton who contributed heavily to their resurgence. Despite his contributions, Mims found himself at the center of offseason trade rumors.
However, nothing ever materialized and the only major move the Broncos made to their receiving room was trading for Jaylen Waddle. That has left Denver with an incredible amount of depth at the wideout position.
