Things Reportedly Got Heated As Travis Kelce Wasn’t Happy With The Denver Broncos’ MNF Pregame Routine

Travis Kelce had an issue with the Denver Broncos during pregame warmups on Monday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce and the Chiefs’ wide receivers were getting ready on the field when Denver’s punters and kickers also started warming up.

Things got a little tense when Denver’s punts started crossing midfield. One punt landed in the Chiefs’ space, and Kelce found the ball. He punted it into the stands.

Kelce stayed alert after that. Another Denver punt came toward the Chiefs’ pass-catchers. Kelce waved off a Denver ball boy, got to the ball first, and threw it into the stands.

“Travis Kelce wasn’t messing around pre-game ahead of MNF against the Broncos,” SVPod shared on X.

Kelce Has Dealt With This Before

The situation brought back memories of an issue Kelce had with Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in 2024.

Kelce discussed the incident on the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce. He said Tucker had left his helmet, football, and kicking tee near the area where the Chiefs quarterbacks were warming up.

“If you want to be a (expletive) about it, you keep your helmet and your football and your (expletive) kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up. … If you’re not going to pick that up, I’ll happily move that for you,” Kelce said.

Kelce later acknowledged that Tucker viewed the move as a joke and a way to create some competition.

“Justin came out and he said it was more of a joking gesture and kind of a fun, competitive [move] and I get it,” Kelce said. “He was kind of winking at me, being a (expletive) about it, trying to get under the skin. … We just weren’t in a joking mood. We were ready to get after it.”

Patrick Mahomes also had an issue with it. He said the Chiefs had followed the same warmup routine for seven years, with only a few kickers getting in the way.

“I’ve had seven years of doing that same warmup routine, and there’s only been like three occasions where there’s been a kicker that wasn’t … moving out of the way,” Mahomes told KCSP. “It was in Baltimore all three times.”

Kelce’s reaction on Monday showed that the Chiefs take their pregame routine seriously.
