It’s Official – Jaxson Dart Is Done Following Devastating Medical Update

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a severe knee injury in Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The dynamic sophomore signal-caller dropped back to pass during the opening drive before being heavily hit mid-throw. He was brutally sandwiched between two Rams linebackers.
Although he walked off the field, he was not okay.
The situation grew drastically worse than the franchise had initially hoped after further medical evaluation. Right after the game, head coach John Harbaugh felt they avoided a “devastating outcome” based on early diagnostic tests.
Furthermore, Tuesday’s follow-up MRI revealed substantial underlying damage, completely shattering that optimism. Insiders confirmed the injury is far “worse than anticipated,” placing season-ending knee surgery squarely on the table.
Giants QB Jaxson Dart Done for 2026 After Knee Update

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will miss the remainder of the 2026 NFL season due to a severe knee injury. Consequently, the young player must undergo surgery to address extensive damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus.
Medical testing confirmed that his ACL remained entirely intact, but the meniscus damage is the primary concern. NFL insider Ian Rapoport formally broke the final status update via a public statement on social media. He reported, “Jaxson Dart is expected to have knee surgery that will lead to a full recovery.”
With Dart officially out, the New York Giants are moving forward with veteran backup Jameis Winston as their new starting quarterback.
Head coach John Harbaugh expressed full confidence in Winston, noting that the team has “absolute faith” in his ability to steer the offense moving forward. Beyond starting Winston, the Giants must address the depth chart since sophomore backup Jake Haener is the only other healthy quarterback currently on the roster.
