The Green Bay Packers host the Atlanta Falcons tonight for a Week 3 Thursday Night Football showdown at Lambeau Field. Atlanta is already in QB hell two weeks into the season, but tonight, they will have Michael Penix Jr. making his 2026 season debut after recovering from a knee injury.

Unfortunately for them, it appears that the writing is already on the wall for them to drop to 0-3.

A social media post claims that the NFL is setting up the Atlanta Falcons to lose their upcoming Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers due to the chosen head referee.

Specifically, the account highlights that head official Shawn Smith has been assigned to the matchup. The user shares data indicating that Smith has a pronounced statistical bias toward home teams. Over the last three seasons, home teams are 25-7 against the spread (78%) under his management.

Furthermore, home teams playing in primetime games are a perfect 9-0 against the spread (100%) with Smith officiating.

Consequently, the poster warns Falcons fans that the trends heavily favor the Packers to win and cover the point spread.

History shows that making the NFL playoffs after a 0-3 start is incredibly difficult but not entirely impossible. Statistically, only about 2.4% of teams facing this specific deficit manage to salvage their season. Only seven teams in professional football history have successfully overcome three consecutive opening losses. The Houston Texans are the only franchise to pull off this rare miracle multiple times. They accomplished the feat during the 2018 campaign and repeated it during the 2025 season.
