A new Tom Brady biography hits shelves Tuesday, and it’s already making waves. Author Lars Anderson conducted over 350 interviews for Brady: An American Story and The Price of Greatness.
The book digs into Brady’s career and family life. It also revisits his marriage to Gisele Bündchen and their 2022 divorce. Anderson’s reporting recently revealed the exact three words Bündchen used to end things: “We’re not compatible.”
That kind of detail resurfacing years later worries Bündchen, but not for the reason people might assume. An insider told the Daily Mail that her real concern isn’t public opinion. It’s her kids.
“Her biggest concern isn’t really what people are saying about her – it’s what her children will eventually read, hear or have thrown at them,” the source said.
Her Husband Factors Into The Worry Too
Bündchen married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente in December 2025. The two share a baby boy together, and Bündchen also has two children with Brady.
The insider said Bündchen doesn’t want old headlines to disrupt the life she’s built with Valente now. She’s also protective of how he gets perceived alongside Brady’s fame.
“She never wants Joaquim to feel like he is playing second fiddle to Tom, or like he is somehow caught in the shadow of a relationship that ended years ago,” the source added.
Valente was first linked to Bündchen back in November 2022, shortly after her divorce from Brady became final. He works as a jiu-jitsu instructor and had trained her family for years before their relationship became public. Their romance has stayed mostly out of the spotlight, aside from the occasional headline.
Family Tension Has Surfaced Publicly Before
This isn’t the first time the co-parenting dynamic has drawn attention. Bundchen took heat this summer for a Father’s Day post. It thanked Valente and her own father, but it left Brady out entirely, and fans noticed right away.
Brady, for his part, has said he regrets letting a Netflix roast dig into their divorce on camera. He’s acknowledged that the jokes affected their kids more than he expected going in. He’s called it a parenting mistake he only recognized well after the fact.
Both exes have leaned into co-parenting since the split in 2022. They keep separate homes in the Miami area. Their day-to-day arrangement has mostly stayed out of public view, aside from moments like the Father’s Day post or the Netflix special stirring things back up. Neither Bündchen nor Brady has publicly addressed Anderson’s book directly yet, and it’s unclear if either plans to.
Brady is still a pretty busy man despite retiring, having taken up a role in the booth at FOX Sports, plus other ventures. That visibility keeps his old marriage in the conversation more than either former spouse probably wants at this point.
Anderson’s biography is set to launch this Tuesday. It’s unclear exactly how much new material it includes about the marriage’s final years.
For now, Bündchen appears more focused on shielding her family from the potential fallout than pushing back.
