Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams recently faced a police investigation regarding an assault and battery complaint. A woman formally accused the NFL star of assaulting her at his home in southwest Oakland County.

The alleged incident originally occurred on August 6 but was not officially reported until early September. Subsequently, the Novi Police Department dispatched officers to his residence on September 10 to investigate the claims.

This put his 2026 season in jeopardy. However, he received great news this week.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams will not face any criminal charges following a thorough police investigation. Law enforcement officers from the Novi Police Department initially launched a comprehensive review earlier this September.

Investigators carefully examined a variety of text communications, photographs, statements, and videos involving both parties. Consequently, prosecutor spokesman Jeff Wattrick confirmed that authorities officially found no legal cause to file charges.

Wattrick explicitly noted in a statement, “Based on the facts presented to us at this time, the Novi Police and our office jointly concluded that there is no cause to file charges against Mr. Williams.”

Furthermore, the spokesman emphasized that the legal matter was evaluated with the same care as any other. Defense attorneys Jason Lampert and Larry Margolis firmly declared that the domestic violence allegations were completely “baseless.”

Lampert released a public statement strongly reiterating, “Mr. Williams unequivocally denies the allegation of domestic violence.” The legal team successfully provided relevant evidence to completely clear Jameson Williams’s name.

On the field, Jameson Williams is enduring a surprisingly quiet and up-and-down statistical start to the 2026 NFL season. Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns, the explosive deep threat has seen his overall offensive usage decrease significantly.

He has actively appeared in three regular-season games and has managed to haul in 10 receptions on 17 total targets across those matchups. Consequently, he has accumulated a modest 127 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.
